Mind Maps for Neurodiverse Students
I recently read an article published by the University of Washington that offers valuable strategies for supporting neurodiverse students in educational settings.
One effective approach is to break information into manageable chunks and incorporate visual aids—techniques that are integral to Mind Mapping.
Another recommended strategy is incorporating regular breaks. Our Mind Map Mastery Intermediate and Expert courses emphasise the importance of breaks and spaced repetition to enhance memory retention and significantly reduce feeling of being overwhelmed.
These techniques are especially beneficial for neurodiverse learners, as our methodology aligns closely with their unique learning needs.
Additionally, the article highlights the value of multisensory teaching methods. Mind Mapping naturally integrates keywords, imagery, and colour to reinforce understanding, making it an effective tool for helping neurodiverse students grasp and retain information more efficiently.
Please note that Professor Marek Kasperski lives in Adelaide, South Australia, so the available time may be inconvenient for some countries.

I realised as a student that linear note-taking was effectively a means of training myself to be stupid.
